SAP Basis Analyst

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled SAP Basis Analyst to join our global SAP support team in Chennai. This role will be responsible for providing comprehensive support for SAP systems, managing system performance and ensuring availability for global users. The SAP Basis Analyst will work in a 24x5 support environment with a rotating shift schedule and be required to be on-call for weekends at least once a month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SAP System Administration:
    • Administer and manage the full SAP landscape (ECC, HANA, PI/PO, SolMan, MDG etc.).
    • Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems and related components (SAP NetWeaver, SAP Hana, DB2, Oracle, etc.).
    • Monitor system health, perform troubleshooting, and resolve system issues to ensure high availability.
  • System Performance and Monitoring:
    • Proactively monitor SAP systems’ performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize performance (e.g., database tuning, system alerts, etc.).
    • Use SAP Solution Manager for system monitoring, performance diagnostics, and event management.
    • Set up and manage SAP Solution Manager configuration, diagnostics, and monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshooting and Incident Management:
    • Troubleshoot and resolve critical system issues (hardware, network, and SAP application-related).
    • Work closely with functional teams to support user issues and resolve technical problems.
    • Resolve high-priority incidents and escalate as necessary to senior SAP Basis team members or vendors.

 

 

  • Backup and Recovery:
    • Implement and maintain backup strategies for SAP systems.
    • Perform regular system and database backups and recover SAP systems in case of failures.
    • Test disaster recovery scenarios to ensure business continuity.
  • SaaS Connections:
    • Implement and manage SaaS connections for boundary applications, ensuring seamless integration with SAP.
    • Work with vendors and external partners to maintain and optimize these connections.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards for data security and privacy.
  • Support for Global Users:
    • Provide 24x5 support for SAP systems with a focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing system availability across all regions.
    • Collaborate with regional support teams to ensure effective issue resolution within defined SLAs.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams across different time zones to ensure global system support.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed and up-to-date system documentation for all SAP Basis activities.
    • Prepare and provide regular reports on system performance, incident management, and key metrics to management.
    • Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and best practices for team knowledge sharing.
  • Shift and On-Call Support:
    • Participate in a rotating shift schedule to ensure 24x5 support for global SAP systems.
    • Be available for weekend on-call support at least once a month and provide timely resolution of critical issues during off-hours.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with other IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and support of SAP solutions and add-ons.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and resolve issues promptly.
    • Participate in SAP projects, including system enhancements, migrations, and new implementations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration, including system installations, upgrades, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
    • Experience supporting SAP systems in large, complex, global environments is preferred.
    • Experience with SAP ECC on HANA administration, Oracle, or other databases (DB2, SQL Server) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in SAP NetWeaver, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and related SAP applications.
    • Proficiency with SAP Solution Manager for monitoring and diagnostics.
    • Strong understanding of SAP security, user management, and authorization concepts.
    • Familiarity with SAP Cloud Platform and integration tools (e.g., SAP PI/PO, CPI).
    • Working knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows) and database systems (Oracle, HANA, SQL).
    • Understanding of SAP transport management and lifecycle management tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional and global teams.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Flexibility and adaptability to a rotating shift schedule and on-call support.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA or SAP NetWeaver.
    • ITIL Foundation or similar IT service management certification is an advantage.
