CLIQ^® Remote secures animal and human safety at the Twycross Zoo Gibbon Forest

Challenge

Twycross Zoo is an internationally renowned primate conservation with a wide variety of monkeys and all 4 types of great ape. In March 2015, the zoo announced the launch of a £55 million plan to develop its site over the coming 20 years.

Essential requirements for any new installation included:

• Access control functions that would offer a significant upgrade on the previous master-key suite
• Dependable security for the site’s many staff and visitors
• The ability to admit zookeepers and vets securely outside of normal operating hours
• A system that would eliminate the security threat posed by lost keys, or those copied without authorisation
• A futureproofed system that matched the management’s vision for the next 2 decades of zoo operation.

Solution

The Twycross Zoo development team worked closely with trusted ASSA CLIQ^® Remote contractor Rossells to select the right key management solution. They chose ASSA CLIQ^® Remote, which was installed at the zoo’s  Gibbon habitat.

This simple, intelligent mechatronical locking system with programmable locks and keys has immediately improved security and access for all site users. Now, access rights of any lost key can be revoked. Generating a detailed audit trail for a key or lock is straightforward.
