CUSTOMER CASE

Fire Rated Platform Doors provide passenger and worker safety at Canary Wharf Elizabeth Line Station

"We were brought in to this project, with a brief to come up with a door design that was capable of carrying the weight of vitreous enamel panels that also needed to pass an independent assessment for fire integrity, to ensure the safety and durability.” Nigel Cronin, Area Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors

Challenge

The new station at Canary Wharf will be one of the largest Elizabeth Line Stations, with the station and retail park areas six stories high. Doors needed to be of an extremely high quality, and durable, to withstand high usage levels over prolonged periods of time.

Solution

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors worked with specialist subcontractors, Linder, to provide pivoted, fire rated platform doors to conceal station equipment rooms that needed to be clad with vitreous enamel panels. The design was based around a pivot system, capable of supporting the weight of the doors, weighing up to 300kgs.
