Market segments

Our three core market segments are Cruise, Ferry and Offshore. Offering a complete range of products and solutions to enhance the guest experience and improve operational efficiency for the crew.

In-house solution development

In our dedicated R&D department based in Landskrona, Sweden, experts create and develop innovative solutions specially tailored for specific customer requirements.

Our belief is to listen closely to customer requirements and respond to feedback so that we deliver viable, flexible and robust solutions to meet the demands of the maritime environment.

At a time of rapid technological change and increasing automation, we always strive to be at the leading edge of developments. We use standard platforms and adapt these to solve our customers’ challenges, enhancing both the ship owner and passenger experience.

Our history in brief

The story began in 1974 when locksmith Tør Sørnes, who worked at leading Norwegian lock manufacturer TrioVing, invented the world’s first mechanical keycard door lock.

We delivered our first VingCard electronic lock at the beginning of the 90s, marking the first time that marine locks could be recoded for every new guest. This development changed the face of passenger ship security and launched a brand new industry where we continue to set the pace.

Our headquarters is located in Norway (Ski), with dedicated marine sales, service and support offices in China (Shanghai), Italy (Udine), Singapore, Spain (Barcelona), Sweden (Landskrona) and the US (Fort Lauderdale).

Unlocking a sustainable future – for us and for our customers

Our Group’s 2025 sustainability targets include a 25% reduction in carbon footprint, energy intensity and hazardous waste intensity, as well as a 50% reduction in organic solvents intensity. Supply chain management goals include sourcing 95% of our spend in identified risk countries from sustainability-audited suppliers and covering 95% of our direct and indirect materials spend with our Business Partner Code of Conduct.

One of our environmental initiatives has been to move away from using 9V batteries to compact AA batteries. Using smaller components reduces power consumption, which supports our cruise customers in lowering operating expenses. Even small reductions in load requirement add up to significant savings over time.

These goals align with the ESG initiatives of responsible cruise lines as they pursue more efficient power consumption onboard, emissions reductions, safeguarding the health and safety of guests and crew, and promoting supply chain transparency.
