Challenge

G Square is a new luxury “micro-living” apartment building in Cape Town, overlooking Greenmarket Square in the prestigious central business district.

With 32 apartments of varying sizes, rented out for either short- or long-term living, the developer needed an attractive and workable access solution to complement the
aesthetics of the residential complex.

Key requirements for the access system were:

  • Trusted access control and security to ensure only G Square tenants could enter apartments and boardrooms
  • Solution affordability: the client needed to combine cost effectiveness with aesthetics which matched the development
  • Easy, seamless integration in a single system with wired, high-security doors which protect the perimeter and building entrances

Solution

On the recommendation of installer and integrator AIM Secure, G Square managers selected Aperio® H100 Wireless Handles integrated online with the Controlsoft Identity Access Solution.

A cost comparison against wired access control was a major driver in choosing Aperio. Fitting an Aperio H100 instead of a traditional wired lock removes any need for door wiring, which saves on labour and cabling costs. Up to 16 Aperio devices may be linked wirelessly to each Aperio hub for real-time communication with the Controlsoft system. The integration incorporates more locks per controller, another cost efficiency for G Square. Further savings accrue during operation. The ongoing cost of running these battery-operated locks is much lower than for equivalent wired electronic locks, which require an “always on” mains electricity connection to ensure security.

Aperio H100 Electronic Handles keep staff, tenants and visitors safe. Only authorized site users open relevant secure doors, conveniently with a programmable RFID credential. Both installer and developer are satisfied with the sleek aesthetics of the Aperio H100, which adds to the appeal of their apartments.
