The EMEIA Division is looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Mid or Senior) for its Digital and Access Solutions (DAS) business to implement and help secure high quality and end-to-end system robustness for connected devices within the EMEIA division.

 

This will be an exciting journey where we will change the perception and challenge/stretch the boundaries of what a door environment is capable of today. A good analogy of this journey would be to compare moving from the landline phone to mobile.

 

What would you do as our Mechanical Engineer

 

You will play a vital role defining and implementing next generation of digital door locks. You will be engaged from the conception phase of new products, over the production until the end of life of the product.

 

These digital door locks still have a lot of mechanical and electromechanical components which need to integrate seamlessly to its digital counterparts and comply to strict standards and norms. Throughout this whole journey of the product, the quality needs to be ensured by doing extensive tests. Your job will be, defining, organizing and executing these tests by collaborating with our engineers with various backgrounds.

 

You will also be responsible for:

  • Collaboration with design engineers from concept phase up to production to ensure the product quality throughout the whole life span.
  • Development and design of test plans and procedures to validate mechanical components and systems.
  • Set-up and conducting tests on mechanical systems, including stress, strain, fatigue, vibration, and environmental testing.
  • Analysis of test results to identify performance trends, failures, or areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration with design engineers and other stakeholders based on test outcomes.
  • Management of/participation in the certification process of the product.

 

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a talented individual with an open and curious mind set, out of the box thinking, passionate, driven, goal oriented.
  • Has a passion for testing, technology, and innovation combined with an interest in consulting and support others.
  • Good team player who understands the importance of meeting deadlines, and who thrives in a busy, challenging environment.
  • Has a proficient written and verbal communication in English.
  • Is able to occasionally travel across EU and other ASSA ABLOY Regions.
  • Has experience in mechanical engineering/testing and in certification testing, working with standardization.
  • Has a Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering.
  • Desirable: Programming experience in Python, Labview, or similar is a beneficial experience.
