Summary: The Lead Software Engineer designs, develops, writes, modifies and implements software solutions consisting of applications and/or components.  Supports and/or installs software applications and components.  Assists with business discovery, and works from written specifications and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.  Maintains accurate documentation of solutions provided.

 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Technical Skills:

  • JDE E1 Experience: Hands-on experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE E1) Distribution modules (e.g., Inventory Management, Sales Order Management, Procurement, and Distribution).

  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in JD Edwards tools, like C, C++, and JDE E1 language (also known as AIS (Application Interface Services) or UBEs (Universal Batch Engine)).

  • SQL: Ability to write and optimize SQL queries for extracting and manipulating data.

  • Advanced Knowledge of JDE E1 Tools: Experience with JDE tools such as EnterpriseOne Orchestrator, Form Design, FDA (Form Design Aid), and Café One.

2. Functional Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of Distribution Modules in JD Edwards E1, such as:

    • Sales Order Management

    • Inventory Management

    • Procurement Management

    • Advanced Pricing and Distribution Requirements

  • Knowledge of business processes related to the distribution supply chain (e.g., order-to-cash, procure-to-pay).

  • Familiarity with integrations between JDE and other systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, or third-party software).

3. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving issues related to JDE distribution functionalities, reports, and integrations.

  • Experience with data migration and business data analysis.

4. Project Management & Communication:

  • Ability to interact with business users to understand requirements and provide appropriate solutions.

  • Good communication skills for collaborating with business teams, functional consultants, and developers.

  • Experience in project management and working in Agile or Waterfall methodologies.

5. Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • Previous experience in JDE Distribution (typically 7-8 years) with a proven track record of successful implementations, upgrades, or support in a distribution environment.

  • Certifications related to JD Edwards (optional but can be an advantage).

6. Soft Skills:

  • Good interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.

  • Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.

 

EXPERIENCE:

A Minimum of 7-8 years related experience developing software in a business production environment.

 

Other TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE and/or ABILITIES

Successful candidates will likely have at least 5 years of experience in a professional capacity with the following technologies:

    • Java

    • SQL Server and/or DB2 Databases

    • XML

    • HTML5\CSS

    • JavaScript\Angular

  • Ability to work through complex issues and identify required interventions.

  • General understanding of business strategies.

  • Proven ability for effective problem analysis and problem resolution at both strategic and functional level.

  • Person must have leadership ability, excellent interpersonal skills, consulting skills and the proven ability to develop relationships and influence all levels within the organization and external to the organization with developers, and business users.

  • Demonstrated presentation, oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to comply and enforce compliance of all state and federal regulations, Company standards, and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
