The industry requires minimal environmental impact
The building industry accounts for about 40 percent of global energy consumption. There has been an increased focus on sustainability in the building industry over the past couple of years. More customers require products that have a minimal environmental impact. An increasing number of buildings are becoming sustainability-certified and environmental product declarations (EPDs) are required for construction products.
Product life cycle - the bigger picture
A product’s environmental impact can vary greatly depending on the type of application that it is used in. Therefore ASSA ABLOY considers the entire life cycle of products in the innovation process. The Group tries to find creative ways to apply engineering expertise in areas where the greatest improvements can be achieved.
