Senior Frontend Engineer

ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Frontend Engineer is a crucial position within Vingcard | ASSA ABLOY, primarily responsible for designing, developing and maintaining robust Frontend solutions that power our innovative access control systems for hotels and adjacent markets. In this position, you will contribute to the creation of user-centric applications, focusing on delivering exceptional user experiences. Your work will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive the development of our access systems, ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and user-friendly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop and maintain frontend applications using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Collaborate with backend developers to integrate user-facing elements using server-side logic.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
  • Implement responsive design to ensure our applications are compatible across various devices.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize frontend systems.
  • Ensure high performance and responsiveness of the application.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current frontend technologies and best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.

 

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

  • Work closely with backend developers to ensure seamless integration of frontend components.
  • Work closely with Designers to implement the visual elements of the application.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to understand requirements and contribute to product development.
  • Coordinate with DevOps to streamline deployment and ensure efficient operation of frontend systems.
  • Engage with Quality Assurance teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

  • Authority to make technical decisions related to software architecture and design.
  • Access to all necessary information and tools to perform role effectively.
  • Responsibility for delivering high-quality software solutions on time and within budget.
  • Authority to mentor and provide career development support to junior developers.
  • Reporting to the R&D Manager for project assignments and career development.           

 

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS/CUSTOMERS

  • Internal: Work closely with other software developers, QA engineers, product managers, and designers.
  • External: Interact with external stakeholders during product demos or user feedback sessions.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES, RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Proficient in React, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and web services.
  • Experience with observability technologies (e.g. Datadog).
  • Experience with Git versioning systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage time effectively.

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.

 

LANGUAGES

Proficiency in English for listening, reading and writing. Intermediate speaking skills in English. Proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency in software development tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines.

Proficiency in React.

EXPECTED OUTCOME AND DELIVERABLES (For the role, on a 3-5 years horizon)

Over the next 3-5 years, the Senior Frontend Engineer will contribute significantly to the development and optimization of our frontend systems, ensuring they are accessible, responsive, robust, scalable, and efficient. The role will play a key part in enhancing the functionality of our access control solutions, delivering high-quality software that meets the needs of our customers and stays ahead of industry trends, including launching new products. The individual in this position will have the opportunity to grow professionally, acquiring new skills and taking on additional responsibilities as part of a dynamic and innovative team.

 

Vingcard Athos Team

The Vingcard Athos team, based in Brasília, Brazil, specializes in developing innovative solutions for the Build-to-Rent market, catering to both long and short-term rentals of furnished apartments. As a small and dynamic team, we manage the entire solution, including IoT devices, Frontend, frontend, and mobile applications.

We operate on a hybrid work model, with three days in the office and two days working from home. While our primary language of communication is Portuguese, all our code and documentation are in English, and meetings involving other teams are conducted in English.

Our team is an integral part of the Vingcard Research & Development organization headquartered in Sweden. We are thrilled to have you join us!
