Safer, more inclusive and smarter offices with ASSA ABLOY solutions

Today's workplaces cannot really be compared to those we had in our companies even twenty years ago. 

While some needs have remained unchanged, such as that of having safe and comfortable workplaces for all those who use them, others have been added in the course of these last decades of profound social and cultural transformation.

One of these is the need for smart access control of employees, customers and visitors. Working hours have become flexible and different for each worker, and everyone must be able to access their office independently. On the other hand, the protection of data and equipment has also become an increasingly important factor. There is therefore a need for a smart access control system to ensure that all staff can easily enter and leave the workplace with a particular focus on security, allowing everyone to access only those areas for which they are specifically authorised.

The aspect of environmental sustainability is also becoming increasingly important, as is the search for access solutions that allow everyone, regardless of physical factors and disabilities, to access the premises without problems.

In addition, new working solutions are becoming more and more popular, such as co-working, where different companies work together in a totally shared space.

Taking into account this important evolution, ASSA ABLOY has designed solutions that are perfectly adapted to the changing needs in offices and workspaces.

An option that combines the requirements of security, inclusiveness and sustainability was, for example, adopted at the new headquarters of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), where DC700 surface mounted door closers with adjustable force and Cam-Motion^® technology were installed.

On the one hand, these door closers allow rooms to be closed securely whenever the doors are opened and are perfect for fire, smoke and standard doors. In addition, a properly closed door maintains the right climatic conditions inside the building for longer, which not only means less energy is wasted, but also reduces heating and air conditioning costs.

Cam-Motion^® technology also allows the door to be opened with less effort, making it easier for everyone to access the premises.

Two access control solutions designed for co-working spaces and premises with a large number of employees and visitors were implemented in Spain, in the ULab co-working in Alicante and the Gran Via Business & Meeting Center in Barcelona. 

Both buildings use the SMARTair^® access management system, which allows visitors and employees to easily access the buildings at different times and on different days thanks to wireless escutcheons and wall readers, and to keep this system up to date thanks to dedicated management software that allows the credentials of each user or group of users to be changed in a few simple steps.

Even if a user loses a card, everything is solved in no time: the lost card is removed from the system and replaced with another without affecting the security of the building. There is also the option of accessing the premises via your smartphone.

And because the eye is also important, all SMARTair^® products have a contemporary and elegant design, conveying a sense of modernity and security.
