With ASSA ABLOY school is truly safe and accessible

When we think of school and university, two of the most important factors to consider when designing buildings intended for this use are certainly the accessibility and safety of the environments.

Classrooms, libraries, laboratories, living quarters, common areas such as the canteen and study rooms should be easily accessible by all students, school staff, teachers and collaborators, without access becoming barriers.

At the same time, however, the entrances must be able to protect the safety of those who attend school or university, protecting people and data from damage that could cause unauthorized people.

For this reason, ASSA ABLOY offers door opening and closing systems and access control systems suitable for any space. In fact, each area has its own specific needs, with different levels of security.

Some examples of solutions designed for the school environment are the projects dedicated to the student residence of the University of Rovigo and the campus of H-Farm International S.p.A. from Venice.

The Rovigo student residence had the need to limit the use of physical keys (which can be easily lost) and to limit the waste of energy that can occur when the premises are left empty and the lights remain on.

Electronic cylinders, cards and wall readers with SMARTair^® technology were then installed. The electronic cylinders allow access to the lodgings by card, thus avoiding the need for mechanical keys. In addition, the energy saver function has been enabled on the cards, which activates and deactivates the electricity in the accommodation at entry and exit, avoiding energy waste.

In the common areas, on the other hand, access is regulated by card and wall readers, thus avoiding the need to install locks or automate the openings.

The H-Farm International campus, on the other hand, had other needs, namely to manage a large number of users authorized to access, to extend an existing access control system without complicating its management and to find a way to manage a rapid turnover of users every time a new event was being organized.

ASSA ABLOY's solution was to install Aperio products. Battery powered wireless door handles and locks solved the problem. On the one hand, the L 100 electronic lock allows you to manage a high traffic of users with high security standards, on the other hand the H 100 electronic handle is the ideal solution for medium-traffic access. The wireless connection made it possible not to have to wire the doors and to manage the operation of the existing equipment also at the other H-Farm offices.
