The ASSA ABLOY Group celebrates its first 30 years. In 1994, the Swedish company ASSA, founded in 1881 by entrepreneur August Stenman, and the Finnish company ABLOY, created by engineer Emil Henriksson in 1921, merged into one big company.
Since then, a long journey began that has led the young, new company to grow rapidly over the decades, transforming it into a leading international group that today has over 61,000 employees, thousands of brands and a market presence in over 70 countries.
How has all this been possible?
In the first ten years, we worked to consolidate the company. We acquired major brands around the world, some of them active for hundreds of years (such as JPM, founded in 1645; Yale, born in 1868; or Sargent, created in 1875), which brought new knowledge and expertise. It was during this period that the ASSA ABLOY group was born.
During the second decade, we have worked tirelessly to expand our offer with the aim of providing complete solutions related to the world of access, working on cutting-edge and flexible products that adapt to the needs of a market that is constantly and profoundly changing. Today, we are able to offer everything connected with the door system.
This birthday inevitably leads us to take stock of these first 30 years. It makes us look back at the path we have already travelled and encourages us to commit ourselves with even greater enthusiasm to the challenges that await us in the future.
And to look forward to the next 30 years.
