Turkey’s Ziraat banking and finance group operates a secure data centre which is certified as an Uptime Tier 3.
Bank servers - and the data they store - are critical to business performance. They sought to improve the physical security of their data by replacing existing mechanical lockand-key security with a digital solution tailored to servers.
Key requirements for upgrading secure access included:
In any holistic data security strategy, physical protection for storage hardware is as important as cyber-security. For this reason, Ziraat Bank chose Aperio wireless locking technology - and specifically the new KS100 Server Rack Lock - to better secure their data.
The KS100 lock can add real-time access control and monitoring to server racks and cabinets. The lock works with an existing or new access control system. Integration with Ziraat’s existing system is seamless: Authorized employees continue to use their OEM MIFARE programmable credentials.
Because Aperio devices operate wire-free, no extensive cabling to doors or servers is required. KS100 locks communicate securely with Ziraat’s system via a network of communications hubs.
Lock access decisions are communicated from and recorded by the access control software. Each hub supports up to 16 Aperio KS100 locks.
As a result, only a 5m length of copper patch cord was needed to serve 16 server rack locks, saving installer time and resources. Careful deployment of Aperio locks and ASSA ABLOY doors enabled Ziraat to meet and maintain its energy efficiency target: a Power Usage Efficiency (PUE) ratio of 1.3.
