The company Motel One, founded in 2000 with headquarters in Munich currently owns 45 hotels with around 9,930 rooms and has successfully positioned itself as a low-budget design hotel chain in Germany, Austria the United Kingdom.
The hotel group’s 45th location was opened on Schröderplatz, centrally located in the Hanseatic city of Rostock. Along with the well-known design elements and furnishing classics of Arne Jacobsen, Carl Hansen or Verner Panton, Motel One has once again incorporated distinct and local themes in its new hotel in the harbour city. Thus it reflects the maritime charms of the far north in design using bright colours and natural materials.
The hotel was also uncompromising in its selection of door closers on the doors of the guest rooms:
- All the door closers were to have an identical appearance for various door situations.
- Hotel guests should be able to easily open and comfortably pass through the room doors, which should then close securely.
Consequently, for doorclosers Motel One in Rostock chose ASSA ABLOY DC500 (for rebate doors with a width of up to 1,100 mm) and DC700 (for rebate doors with a width of up to 1,400 mm). The door closers offer an appealing design, harmoniously integrate into the overall appearance of the hotel and open up a wide range of design possibilities for the architects.
With the effective Cam-Motion® technology, the counterpressure of the door closer is significantly reduced in a crucial opening range of the door and its handling is made noticeably easier in comparison with conventional slide rail door closers with rack and pinion technology.
The installed door closer system is universally applicable for all types of installation. As a result, the planning expenditure was reduced and unnecessary additional costs associated with the necessary differentiation between hinge and non-hinge sides with other systems could be eliminated.
