Učka tunnel opening

One of the most important infrastructure projects in Croatia

The Učka tunnel is one of the most important infrastructure project in Croatia. Traffic through the Učka tunnel has so far been through a single tube, which was put into operation in 1981. The new 5.6 kilometer tube is enableing faster vehicle flow and compliance with European safety standards.

The Učka Tunnel is the third longest tunnel in Croatia, after Mala Kapela and Sv. Roko. During the construction, the contractors used the latest methods including liquid explosives, conveyor belts for material removal and modern systems for breaking and excavating materials.

These technologically advanced approaches enabled the work to be carried out quickly and efficiently despite numerous challenges, such as the complex geological situation and the requirements for minimal impact on existing traffic.

More than 500 workers were engaged in the construction. The total investment is around 200 million euros, and the work was completed on time and without additional costs. We supplied Electro niches, SOS niches, Doors for passage of emergency vehicles, Pedestrian passage doors and Hydrant niches.
