New ATEX IIC explosion protection for eCLIQ keys and cylinders

The IKON eCLIQ electronic locking system offers an important innovation: The eCLIQ keys Professional and Connect, as well as all cylinder types, are now available with explosion group IIC certification. With this extension of the certification to ATEX=II 2G Ex ib IIC T4 Gb, the system can now be used in areas where the particularly explosive gases hydrogen and acetylene can occur.

Why is it important?

In potentially explosive areas, a spark is enough to trigger a dangerous reaction. The listed CLIQ products and components meet the strict requirements of Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) and provide a safe solution for access in such an environment.

Extended industrial applications

With more than 60 certified cylinder types and a variety of designs, the eCLIQ system is extremely flexible. The keys and cylinders combine the advantages of electronic technology with robust, mechanical components. With the extension to Explosion Group IIC, eCLIQ keys and cylinders can now be used with even more versatility in various industries and critical infrastructures – including for special applications such as hydrogen production or the use of acetylene such as oxy-fuel welding, where high combustion temperatures are reached.
