Challenge:

The Wohnungsbaugenossenschaft Wittenberg eG housing association was founded 70 years ago and is now a medium-sized housing cooperative in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The association offers attractive apartments in several districts of the Lutheran town of Wittenberg as well as a variety of services: A team of 21 full-time and 4 part-time employees as well as 3 apprentices manage around 2,800 apartments, 1,000 garages and car parking spaces, 720 bicycle garages and 16 commercial units.

“We want to ensure that our members have comfortable, safe accommodation at affordable prices,” says Dirk Scheller, Member of the Management Board of WBG Wittenberg eG. “The maintenance and modernisation of our own stock is therefore our primary goal.” For this reason, WBG Wittenberg was looking for a modern, tenant-friendly locking solution that impresses with high security and great flexibility.

Solution

With the eCLIQ master key system from the IKON brand, the association relies on an electronic locking solution offering many advantages. The master key system type range is as extensive as the diverse areas of application on site. eCLIQ offers cylinder types for entrance doors, apartment doors, garden gates, waste disposal sites and technical rooms, etc. for indoor and outdoor use. Power is supplied via the key, so no wiring is required.

At the same time, the new system enables a high degree of flexibility in issuing, changing and managing access authorisations when new tenants move in or keys are lost. Key losses thus become a calculable risk. Service providers, such as craftsmen or care companies, can also be granted access to different residential tenants of the association with a key. The software is therefore ideal for managing locking systems which are distributed over several locations – as is the case with the housing association.
