Electronic locking system for Ruhrverband – a focus on security and efficiency

Challenge:

The Ruhrverband is a public-law water management company that ensures the water supply for 4.6 million people with its facilities and treats wastewater from 60 cities and municipalities in the catchment area of Ruhr and Lenne. The focus is on people and the environment, without losing sight of economic efficiency.

In addition to eight dams and five reservoirs, the Ruhrverband is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 47 gauging stations and 31 precipitation measuring stations, as well as for the hydrotechnical management of 15 hydropower plants of its subsidiary Lister- und Lennekraftwerke GmbH. Furthermore, the wastewater produced by two million people from private households and commercial companies is treated in the Ruhrverband's 66 wastewater treatment plants.

In order to optimally secure and efficiently manage the entire infrastructure – from the main administration and the dams, to the wastewater treatment plants – the Ruhrverband was looking for a flexible electronic locking system.

Solution:

The Ruhrverband has opted for the IKON eCLIQ digital master key system. The solution not only impresses with its compact design, but also with its robust, durable and secure components that ensure reliable operation.

The master key system is managed via the CLIQ^® Web Manager, a scalable and flexible platform that is particularly suitable for larger master key systems or separate locations. The software is platform-independent and can be used with any standard web browser, making installation on the existing association's IT infrastructure straightforward.

A key advantage of eCLIQ is also the ability to adapt access authorisations individually and flexibly. Lost keys can be deactivated directly, and access can be granted for a limited period of time or for specific areas. Among other things, this makes it easier to organise authorisations for technical service providers or cleaning staff without having to exchange physical keys
