Characteristics:
Challenge:
The building of the Austrian Parliament in Vienna is the seat of the two chambers, the National Council and the Federal Council of the Republic of Austria. It was created between 1874 and 1883 according to the plans from Theophil Hansen. The architect incorporated numerous references to democracy in his masterpiece. He took forms and symbolism from the design language of Ancient Greece to reflect the origins of democracy.
The parliament building was renovated from 2017 to 2023. An online access control system was installed as part of this process. In addition, technical cabinets, furniture, shafts, switch cylinders and other very different areas had to be equipped with an electronic locking system.
Solution:
The building managers decided to add an electronic eCLIQ master key system to the access control system. With more than 60 different wireless cylinder types, eCLIQ from the IKON brand provides security and access control to many different, sensitive areas, furniture and joinery installations.
Employees are given a single electronic eCLIQ key, which is then individually programmed with time-limited access authorisations as required.
Authorisations can also be temporarily activated for service technicians, cleaners and external service providers. The versatility of eCLIQ is truly demonstrated when a key has been lost. Key access authorisations can be removed individually by reprogramming locking cylinders. The keys and cylinders are also compatible with the high demands on design and the installation situations, and integrate optimally into the building concept of the listed parliament building.
