Security Door Closer

The first door closer with integrated escape route locking for hinge side and integrated electromechanical locking on the opposite hinge side.

The advantages:

The escape door strike and latch bolt lock are integrated into the door closer inconspicuously.

  • For hinge and non-hinge side

  • For single and double (hinge side) leaf doors

  • Without wiring of the door leaf

  • For retrofitting an electrical locking

  • Retrofitting also on fire doors with DIN drilling pattern

  • Additional locking for the main lock

  • Alternative to screw-on solutions

  • No restriction of the clear passage height

  • Less power requirement than holding magnets

Also for double-leaf doors

For fire protection in buildings, door closers are safety-relevant and indispensable components. A special option for retrofitting an existing fire door is the security door closer with integrated escape door locking.

The security door closer is also available for double-leaf door systems on the hinge side.

Escape route locking on the hinge side

The ASSA ABLOY hinge side security door closer is the first door closer with integrated escape route locking.

The mounting plate and slide rail have been extended by design. In addition to the door closer, the latch lock is also mounted on the mounting plate. The escape door strike is mounted in the guide rail as a counterpart. The door can be locked via the combination escape door strike/latch lock.

Areas of application:

  • (Retrofit) escape route locking on entrance doors and fire doors (see special case: fire doors)
  • Retrofitting of a locking device for an access control system (also on fire doors (see special case: fire doors)
  • (Retrofitting) locking of airlock doors

Special case: Retrofitting on fire doors

Fire doors must be approved by the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt). If changes are made, there is a risk that the DIBt approval will expire.

A general retrofitting of escape route locks on fire doors is not permitted according to the notice of the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) dated 1.12.2009 "Permitted modifications and additions to fire protection closures and fire protection closures with smoke protection properties in the modified approval procedure".

The security door closer fulfils the requirement for retrofitting a door closer with slide rail according to DIN EN 1154. If a fire door is approved for the use of door closers according to DIN EN 1154 and pre-equipped with the corresponding drilling pattern, this is simply used for the security door closer: by means of adapter plates, existing fixing holes can be used when replacing the slide rail.

Electromechanical locking on the non-hinge side

With the ASSA ABLOY security door closer for the non-hinge side, (façade) doors with access control can be easily retrofitted with an electric locking device. It is also a suitable locking device for lock doors.

The locking device is integrated in the extended slide rail and on the extended mounting plate of the ASSA ABLOY security door closer.

Areas of application:

  • for the safe retrofitting of a façade door (e.g. emergency exit) with an electric locking device
  • for retrofitting an electric locking device for an access control system
  • as a locking device for interlock doors

The advantage is that there is no restriction of the clear passage height, as is the case when using electromagnets or other screw-on locks. And compared to these, it also needs less power.

Special case: Installation on the non-hinge side of fire and smoke protection doors

Installation on the non-hinge side of fire and smoke protection doors is only possible with the prior approval of the door manufacturer or, in individual cases, with the approval of the building authorities.
