Upgrade of the MSL test box with new functions and adapted design

The MSL test box offers simple and independent verification of all functions of a motorised FlipLock lock without the presence of an electrician being required. Due to the great reception from door manufacturers and joiners, ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG has now developed the test system further and added new functions. Among other things, the powerful battery operation and the additional terminals on the outer shell of the box offer even more flexibility for monitoring and maintenance.

The motorised versions of the MSL FlipLock lock line from ASSA ABLOY, which can be used universally, offer a high level of security and fire protection for a wide range of door systems in commercial and public buildings. The MSL test box, which is available separately, also offers the processor simple and reliable proof of its function, despite the complexity of the installed technology. The MSL test box makes it easy to call up and check different operating modes and status values of a lock.

Greater flexibility and maintenance convenience

The test system demonstrates its advantages on construction sites, in particular: Once a FlipLock lock is installed, the lock functions can be read out during the general construction phase and a test or acceptance report – created by the processor – can be signed by the architect or building contractor present on site. This gives the door processor the necessary certainty that the installation has been carried out correctly and functions perfectly.

For even more flexibility in handling on the construction site, the MSL test box upgrade is equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery and now also enables operation independent of an available power source.

The processor still has two options for reading out the operating modes: Either by connecting the motor cable to the cable transition of the door or directly to the removed lock. However, reading out the cable has become much more versatile and convenient with the new, additional terminals on the outer sheath - a key advantage in hard-to-reach areas of the construction site.

In the future, the MSL test box will also make it easier for the processing joiner to define maintenance intervals or to select the parameters that they want to record in the test report - the design options offer maximum flexibility and freedom. With the reset function, the lock can also be set to single mode conveniently and directly via the test box without having to remove the lock. In addition, the already registered faults can be shown on the display.

Optimized to suit customer requirements

The predecessor model of the MSL test box was already very popular with processors such as joiners or metal builders. The current optimisations resulted from great customer feedback and confirm ASSA ABLOY's role as a strong partner for modern and innovative locking and lock technology.
