Planet GDZ AG is being renamed
Planet GDZ AG will become ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG with effect retrospectively from 1 January 2020. The traditional company known for its drop-down door seals and the Planet finger protection® range was integrated in ASSA ABLOY under a succession plan back in July 2018 and the two companies are now becoming one legal entity with the renaming of Planet. The established and patented products from Planet will be continued in the product range under their existing product names.
ASSA ABLOY is the world's leading manufacturer and supplier of lock solutions and security systems relating to all aspects of the door. With the completion of the name change from Planet GDZ AG to ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG, it is represented with three large production sites and brands in Switzerland. ASSA ABLOY develops and produces the traditional KESO locking systems at the headquarters in Richterswil. With over 350 patents, KESO stands for innovative locking systems, that set themselves apart with the most secure cylinders in the world, combined with a unique locking concept planning. The production site in Kleinlützel, on the other hand, stands for the development and production of high-quality security, panic and electromechanical mortise locks and multi-point locks from the well-known MSL product brand. The lock technology center of excellence for Germany, Austria and Switzerland has also been located at this site since the end of 2016.
Quality and innovation – 100 % Swiss-made
With the renaming of Planet, Tagelswangen, Zurich, has become the third ASSA ABLOY production site in Switzerland. The company was taken over by ASSA ABLOY under a succession plan in July 2018 and has been producing innovative drop-down seals, which seal doors without thresholds against the floor, for more than 70 years. The development from a local player to an internationally active and recognized company is exemplary. The world-renowned Planet drop-down seals, which now have over 300 patents, highlight this unique success story. The same applies for the Planet finger protection® range launched in 2016, which helped Planet to conquer a new market segment. The Planet finger protection® protects fingers from being painfully crushed against the inner edge of the door.
