New Planet finger protection cover profile with a high level of user convenience
ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG is expanding its well-known Planet finger protection range this year with new hinge-side protective cover profiles featuring innovative fixing technology. The new system can be installed on to the door in a very short time without the need of screws or tools. This goes also for the removal, for example, when maintenance is required on the door panel. The cover profile is suitable for almost every application. Planning is also very easy, as little data is required to find the right model.
In many situations, a door gap can become a dangerous trap when closing. Professional finger protection helps to prevent injuries and accidents that can have severe consequences. The well-known and multi-certified Planet finger protection range is suitable for almost all interior and exterior doors, both in new builds and for retrofitting. With only two components - the protective roller blind on the non-hinged side and a fixed cover profile on the hinged side - the innovative system completely covers the gap at the inner closing edge between the leaf and the frame, thus preventing anyone from accidentally reaching into the gap. With the market launch of the new hinge-side cover profile, installation will be even easier and faster in the future. This is because the new technology allows the profile to be easily inserted between the hinges of the door instead of the previous screwing method.
Perfect fit and look
Another advantage: the entire finger protection system becomes very flexible to use. Where previously the specialist installer had to obtain specific information about the hinge geometry, now it is sufficient to know the diameter of the hinges in order to fit the new Planet cover profile precisely. This significantly reduces the overall planning effort. ASSA ABLOY offers the system in the most common hinge diameters from 18 to 23 millimetres. In combination with the adapter rings, which are also available, the vast majority of door situations can be dealt with quickly and efficiently. Regardless of the door material, the new generation of cover profiles always sits securely and meets all requirements for a flush and perfect appearance. This also eliminates additional material costs for special cases that previously required on-site shimming or similar adjustments, e.g. to create suitable surfaces for the screwing of the protective profile.
Assembled in no time
The installation of the new Planet cover profile is extremely simple and, with an effort of approximately 10 minutes per door, only takes about a third of the installation time required by comparable protective profiles available on the market. With the optionally available assembly tool, positioning the assembly foot is even faster and easier. The foot is glued as standard but can also be screwed down in the case of poorly adhering floors or attached by means of optionally available mounting brackets. If maintenance work is required on the door panel, the few components can also be removed just as efficiently.
Minimum storage space
Thanks to the universal use of the new cover profiles, the stock range for installers and wholesalers is kept to a minimum. At the same time, cost-effectiveness is increased to a maximum, because complicated, custom-made solutions are generally a thing of the past.
Presentation at BAU 2023
