Upgrade for rebated pivot doors: New innovative trigger module with Planet drop-down seal

Whether as a design alternative to the ordinary room partition or a striking design statement in XXL format: With their elegant appearance, pivot doors are true transformation artists with a constantly growing fan base among architects, designers and homeowners. To ensure that this passage concept is not only visually but also functionally impressive, suitable measures must be taken to seal against noise, smoke, fire and heat loss.

Planet US: Flexible solution for sound insulation, fire protection and more

With the Planet US automatic door drop-down seal, ASSA ABLOY already offers a solution that not only achieves a sound insulation value of up to 48 dB, but is even smoke-tight and fire-retardant at the same time, depending on the version. Due to its ability to be combined with various options, the profile with a width of just 8 mm enables a wide range of applications, even in narrow swing and double-leaf doors as well as in folding walls. With extra lengths up to 6000 mm available in addition to the standard lengths (335 mm to 1585 mm), the system is also ideal for pivot doors that often have special dimensions.

New pivot module: Better handling and less wear and tear

With the newly developed Planet pivot module for rebated doors, there is now an alternative. A rotating activator is now used instead of the spherical end piece. Lewis Lasser, Product Manager for drop-down seals, explains the benefits: "In combination with the Planet US drop-down seal, the pivot module enables better force transfer without lateral forces acting on the lowering mechanism. Lower operating forces are also required for opening and closing – a significant gain in terms of comfort and accessibility. The slim design also allows the use of narrower door leaves for soundproof pivot doors. The optional ramp enables the grinding distance to be minimised, which also increases comfort during operation."

Modular system as an attractive alternative for retailers and processors

The Planet US drop-down seal can also be easily extended with the pivot release module for retailers and processors. "Since the Planet US provides the retailer with an extremely versatile product, no warehouse-intensive solution is required for pivot doors, only the upgrade kit with the new trigger module is required," explains Lewis Lasser, adding: "Another advantage is the simple installation. A 16 mm hole above the 8 mm sealing groove is sufficient for mounting the module. The inner profile extension is simply pushed onto the inner profile of the seal and ensures the stability of the seal in the extended area below the module."

The pivot module for rebated doors will be available from March 2024 – pre-orders are already being accepted.
