SMARTair: ASSA ABLOY launches a compact and versatile access control system

SMARTair is a modular, fully scalable and powerful access control system that ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG has now added to its portfolio for intelligent access control technology. The numerous setting options of the compact system and wireless installation offer a high degree of flexibility and versatility in application.

"The SMARTair system focuses on key locking requirements, which have been implemented in an extremely compact and streamlined product portfolio. The simple and uncomplicated, usually wireless installation as well as the flexible integration options make SMARTair attractive for many industries and application scenarios," explains Murat Tuerker, Product Manager Mechatronics at ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG. The self-contained locking system is simple, uncomplicated and versatile. The clearly structured modular system consisting of a few optimally matched components can be installed in any door situation without wiring and also enables modern and convenient management. SMARTair makes it easy to add, delete and update user authorisations, regardless of the time and place. An additional advantage is the autonomy of the intelligent access control system – because the information on the access authorisations of the respective identification medium is stored directly in the memory of the door component, thus guaranteeing optimal communication.

Grows with your needs

SMARTair offers upwards scalability at all times and can be adapted easily in line with changing requirements. The access control system is available in four management variants. If desired, these can also be combined within the same system to establish different user profiles and security levels, for example.

SMARTair Standalone is the optimal solution for the traditional homeowner who only needs to secure a few doors with low user frequency. Access authorisations are updated at this basic control level via a programming card.

The SMARTair Update on Card variant offers convenience. Here, updates are carried out via a validation point on the door, with access authorisations being transferred to the user’s card by viral data transfer. This means that not all doors in a building need to be visited individually and no separate terminal needs to be sought by the user for reprogramming. This type of data transfer also allows locking events to be recorded.

SMARTair Openow, on the other hand, uses a smartphone as an identification medium. Openow is the matching virtual key in the access control system, which replaces the traditional identification media for the user and works with the TS1000 software. This software solution enables practical real-time access to the system. Authorisations can be conveniently updated or revoked and the locking history can be called up, for example.

SMARTair Pro Wireless Online offers the greatest flexibility. Here, everything takes place online via communication hubs, both the management and all updates. The Pro Wireless Online version can be used with different types of credentials for any requirement, including cards, badges, bracelets or even the smartphone in conjunction with the Openow app.

Suits every need

SMARTair cylinders, fittings, locks and wall readers are just as versatile as the identification media themselves. The i-gate padlock for securing outdoor facilities, for example, is extremely robust and weather-resistant down to -55°C. Lockers or filing cabinets can also be integrated into the SMARTair access control system indoors with the e-motion cabinet lock. SMARTair scores highly in terms of visual appearance with its wide range of designs and colours to fulfil practically any design wish. Whether escutcheons or cylinders in stainless steel, satin-finish chrome, polished brass, black or white – even extra antimicrobial versions can be achieved with SMARTair.

Flexible applications

The identification media used with SMARTair can also be combined with third-party systems, such as time recording or on vending machines as well as other payment points in a building system. The SMARTair TS1000 software also integrates easily with systems and platforms tailored to different sectors such as education and healthcare or public administration. The client-server architecture helps to speed up the flow of information and reduce operating costs for the organisation.

Contactless, keyless technology and individualised cards in the SMARTair system are especially appreciated by many organisations with increased public traffic and hygienically sensitive areas. Many renowned clinics, nursing homes and universities around the world already rely on SMARTair.

The SMARTair is distributed by ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG on the Swiss market only.
