Highest design standards: ASSA ABLOY adapts the portfolio for glass applications
ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG has now revised and harmonised its Planet brand portfolio for glass solutions. Among other things, some of the tried-and-tested drop-down seals for glass doors are now available in the trendy colour black, as well as in the standardised symmetrical design.
The expanded range for door thicknesses of up to 16 mm will also enable use for smoke and fire doors made of glass in the future. Another completely new addition to the range is the first Planet finger protection solution for all-glass doors.
Whether as a partition wall, room-in-room system or for a completely open look flooded with light – there are virtually no limits to the design freedom with glass nowadays. Symmetry is on trend here: More than ever before, architects, builders and glass system manufacturers are focussing on using safety glass solutions that offer uniform symmetries and modern, harmonious designs.
New colour, new design variety
ASSA ABLOY is cleverly picking up on the current trends by adding the black anodised surface to the previously available anodised EV1 colourless and Inox style for the glued-on drop-down seal KG-S. The popular and quick to install drop-down seal is therefore available as the perfect colour solution for any modern interior design.
The world's narrowest drop-down seal impresses
The narrowest drop-down seal in the world was created with a focus on design-oriented, harmonious architecture and ensures a symmetrical view of the front side from even the narrowest glass thickness of eight millimetres. This allows architects and glass system manufacturers maximum flexibility and decision-making certainty in the planning phase, as different glass thicknesses have often been an obstacle to perfect symmetry of a glass wall in the past. In order to complete the system upwards, a drop-down seal for 16 mm thick glass is now also available for use on fire doors.
Finger protection for glass
Planet is expanding its range in the glass doors segment with the new Planet finger protection solution for all-glass doors. For example, the hinge-side cover profile AG1 has been equipped with a glued and unique clip system that can be subsequently adjusted. Thanks to the sliding stainless steel clip, the position of the cover profile can still be corrected even after the plastic holder has been glued to the glass. It is also attached and not glued, which, in addition to subsequent adjustability, also enables easy disassembly, for example when work is required on the door leaf. Thanks to the clip system, the profiles on the frame and leaves can be removed and reinstalled in seconds.
The second new component, the RG 1 additional profile, has been developed so that fastening the roller blind suspension rail for glass doors is as easy and convenient as possible. It is glued and can be conveniently screwed to the standard roller blind via its groove. The modular adapter profile allows the cloth tension of the blind to be adjusted at a later stage, thus guaranteeing a standard-compliant protective function. The dealers' warehouse range can be upgraded with just one additional profile for the glass range. The finger protection for all-glass doors is also available in black anodised.
