Winding loops, technical trails, and undulating pump tracks: Swiss Bike Park Oberried, located not far from Bern, offers 30,000 m² of biking fun for young and old and is more than just a leisure facility. Designed as an inclusive meeting place that combines competitive, recreational, and disability sports, the park is also a flagship project for cross-societal mobility that radiates far beyond the country’s borders. With the inauguration of the new Swiss Bike Park Foundation building in March 2023, the biking facility is now also an architectural attraction. Construction partner ASSA ABLOY equipped the clubhouse with state-of-the-art access technology.
In keeping with the progressive spirit of the bike park, the clubhouse also sets the benchmark in terms of design, sustainability, and accessibility. The modern, two-story wood-hybrid building was constructed according to the energy-efficient Minergie A standard and uses only environmentally friendly materials as far as possible and implements all guidelines for barrier-free construction.
When implementing the inclusion measures, the doors were also retrofitted with DC700 Cam-Motion door closers from ASSA ABLOY in cooperation with Gilgen Door Systems AG. Cam-Motion technology enables a 40 percent reduction in the force required to open a door to an opening angle of up to 60 degrees. The closing speed can also be adjusted by means of independent valves in the door closer, which allows more time to pass through the door. This makes it possible for visitors with physical disabilities to move around the building more independently.
As a “building supplier,” ASSA ABLOY contributed the entire locking system free of charge. The Integra digital access solution was installed with a KESO 8000 Ω² locking system, which includes almost 100 components and over 180 keys. Mainly mortise locks from MSL’s CASA line as well as partially self-locking MSL FlipLock locks were installed in the interior. This door locking system with the patented flip latch offers the advantage that doors can be easily opened even in the event of warping due to temperature fluctuations. In the area of the main building, which also serves as the headquarters, shop, and workshop of bicycle manufacturer Thömus AG, are other outbuildings in which locking systems have also been integrated. Depending on the security level required, KESO 8000Ω2 cylinders were also installed there.
At the same time, this juxtaposition of a wide range of security levels and security areas requires an effective management solution that allows access authorizations to be tailored exactly to the relevant user group. The complete management of the locking system is based on k-entry management software, which combines mechanical, mechatronic, and electronic locking systems in one organizational network. This solution enables the monitoring of all components and user rights, which can be changed quickly and easily at any time. A local installation is currently used that is operated by a PC as well as a programming device. If required, this can also be expanded to a location-independent web solution.
