Fire rescue services

Electronic locking systems for added security and flexibility for fire rescue services

Our contribution to safety

Emergency services such as the police, rescue, ambulance and fire services carry an enormous responsibility. In service for the citizens of a community, town or an entire state, their job is to provide safety, general aid and assistance or fire protection.

In the event of an emergency, these challenged public services require energy, full-working equipment available at all times and, above all, fast and direct access to the affected building. Durable locking solutions which can be flexibly managed and are uncomplicated to use play an important role in this.

In its area of operation, one single fire station not only serves private households, it also has contracts with between several hundreds and a thousand businesses and institutions in the area. These include multi-storey large office complexes or government offices and public institutions relevant for the system. These buildings usually have fire alarm systems installed which have a direct link to the relevant fire station. In the event of an emergency, uncomplicated access to these buildings must be guaranteed at all times for the rescue services.

An institution is often divided over several buildings on one side and each building can have a very different locking system from another. From a logistical perspective, this presents a very demanding challenge. In the past, the access points reserved for emergency services in buildings belonging to companies who contract fire services are usually controlled with conventional mechanical locking systems. A replacement of the key in the lock barrel is a very time-consuming and complicated procedure: The property key, which is stored in the special key safe cylinders, has to be opened in person by an authorised fire rescue employee in the affected building and the key inside then has to be replaced by the property owner. Besides which, one of the biggest security risks of a mechanical locking system is the loss or theft of a key. The fact is that, in such a scenario, it is necessary to immediately replace all the key safe cylinders which is an immense task and associated with unwanted costs.

One electronic key for everything

To minimise the risk of a lost key and the associated consequences as well as to control access rights easily, electronic locking system solutions offer key benefits. For example, the innovative KESO eCLIQ system is based on the microelectronic modules of the tried-and-tested CLIQ technology. KESO eCLIQ consists of extremely durable, programmable keys and a wide range of compact wireless cylinder locks which are easy to install. The integrated CLIQ chips work with AES encryption which make the locking system extremely secure and ensure flexibility for key management. On request, all key depots of one fire station can be opened with the same, individually programmed keys. The CLIQ Web Manager is used for programming and management. This platform-independent software can be used to comfortably install, change and delete locking rights or restrict them in time. In addition, the application saves all the locking procedures whereby complying with legal documentation requirements.
