Electro Mechanic

Job Summary

Works closely with maintenance, tool room, quality control and other production team members, including Automation Specialist, Technicians, Engineers, Vendors and suppliers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

· (10%) Works autonomously while repairing highly complex electrical and mechanical equipment. This will involve being able to describe symptoms to vendors over the phone and carrying out suggested repairs.

· (10%) Works with Supervisors and Leads in getting faulted equipment back on line by whatever means are necessary, i.e. calls vendors; take initiative to acquire additional resources or technical help.

· (10%) Connects and establishes communication with the PLC processors and interrupt the ladder logic program to isolate, diagnose and repair any machine problem.

· (10%) Performs any operations necessary to repair any piece of machinery or equipment using any or all of the following skills;

o Arc or gas welding on mild steel.

o Brazing, soldering, silver soldering, torch welding, drilling, and tapping.

o Replaces bearings, shafts, gears, pins, and keys.

o Must be able to run all equipment in machine shop.

o Electrical troubleshooting skills including all appropriate electrical test equipment.

o Welds and builds steel tables, brackets, extensions, oilers, safety gates, etc., to be added to machinery.

· (5%) Determines if repairs can be made, or if service technicians must be called in.

· (5%) Analyzes and diagnoses hydraulic and pneumatic systems using hydraulic and pneumatic schematics. Must be able to physically trace circuits if schematics are not available.

· (5% ) Plans, layouts and installs circuits and distribution equipment in accordance with all applicable codes.

· (5%) Fabricates, installs and/or repairs electrical systems on production equipment while working from drawings and schematics.

· (5%) Locates trouble causing malfunction; dismantles machine; replaces broken or worn parts electrical and mechanical; and re-assemble machine.

· (5%) Repairs, maintains, and assembles safety guards, motors, relays, starters, lighting, ejection, feeding, pumping, and other attachments.

· (5%) Moves heavy equipment and machinery from one point to another within the plant area.

· (5%) Takes extraordinary responsibility for Safety and Housekeeping. Repairs or reports any safety discrepancies immediately.

· (5%) Performs required electrical and mechanical P.M.’s on equipment.

· (5%) Takes initiative to respond to any discrepancy. Initiates Engineering contacts for problem resolution. Contacts vendors for technical assistance, parts availability, and prepare Purchase Requisitions, PTO’s, and other types of documentation.

· (5%) Rebuilds hydraulic valves, cylinders and pumps.

· (5%) Runs appropriate plumbing (water and air) and electrical service to new or relocated equipment.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as required by Supervisor or Lead.

Education and Experience Profile

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Requires 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Electrician and Mechanic or a minimum of 3 to 4 years experience as an Electrician and Mechanic A.

  • Electrical experience to include knowledge of process control and PLC’s.
