Industrial Design Engineering Intern
Job Summary
Americas Residential, a division of ASSA ABLOY is looking for a highly motivated and practical Intern to work in our headquarter office in Lake Forest, CA. This role will offer you the opportunity to be a part of a global company and the market leader in opening solutions.
We are seeking a creative and driven Industrial Design Intern to join our Plumbing Division. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced designers and engineers to assist in the design, prototyping, and development of new plumbing products. This role will give you the opportunity to apply your design skills to real-world products, gaining hands-on experience in the plumbing industry.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of new plumbing products and solutions.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to create product sketches, CAD models, and prototypes.
- Support the design team in refining product aesthetics, usability, and ergonomics.
- Conduct research on market trends, customer needs, and competitor products to inform design decisions.
- Help prepare presentations and product mockups for internal reviews and client meetings.
- Assist in testing and evaluating prototypes to ensure functionality and quality standards are met.
- Contribute to the creation of design specifications and documentation.
Education and Experience
- Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
- Sensitivity to form languages and design aesthetics
- Strong skills in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, Rhino, etc.).
- Knowledge of product design principles and the design development process.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team.
- Passion for developing beautiful forms and innovative design solutions in the plumbing or home improvement industry.
