SCEC Approved Products

ASSA ABLOY has a wide range of SCEC approved products available under the ABLOY and Lockwood brands. These are categorised by the SEEPL security threat levels described below.

The Security Construction and Equipment Committee (SCEC) is a standing interdepartmental committee responsible for the evaluation and endorsement of security equipment for use by Australian Commonwealth departments and agencies.

ASIO's T4 Protective Security directorate, on behalf of SCEC, evaluates protective security products to determine their suitability for use in Australian Government facilities. Approved products are listed in the Security Equipment Evaluated Products List (SEEPL).

SEEPL categorises products into four levels that indicate the relative ‘security strength’ of the item for use in Government applications. SL4 products offer a high level of security while SL1 products offer the lowest acceptable level of security for Government use.

SL4 High Threat

The following products are SCEC approved for SL4 High Threat level areas. The highest level available.

SL3 Medium Threat

The following products are SCEC approved for SL3 Medium Threat level areas.

SL1 Low Threat

The following products are SCEC approved for SL1 Low Threat level areas.

  • SCEC does not classify padlocks rated SL2 or SL1.  SCEC has published a Security Equipment Guide for Padlocks (SEG-028).  This guide recommends commercial grade padlocks that meet AS 4145.2:2002 grade SP6 should be considered acceptable for use in Security Zones One, Two, Three.
