Software used by the client: AutoDesk Revit 2021
ASSA ABLOY Software used: Openings Studio™
Size of Specification: 1550 doors
Challenge
Archcorp has worked with Autodesk Revit® to produce model-based building designs for over 6 years. While working with the software a major challenge was reloading the analyzed parameters into the Revit® file. It had to be done meticulously and required effort. Another issue faced was locating the right Hardware sets. Revit® is a building information modelling software popularly used for architectural & engineering design. The firm works with Revit® on architectural, structural and MEP design. All models are executed , coordinated and delivered via this BIM. This meant every part of the process needed to work together seamlessly.
Solution
We were able to provide solutions for the challenges faced by the client using ASSA ABLOY’s proprietary BIM Openings Studio™. The Openings Studio™ plugin was integrated with the client’s design software - Autodesk Revit® to facilitate creating and visualising openings for door hardware schedules and specifications. Once the project is completed in Openings Studio™, the information can be exported from Openings Studio™ and imported back into Revit® including the model, geometry, and parameters. This negated the need to reload parameters into the Revit® file. Specification data could now be easily selected and exported for consistent information in the model. The export option also automatically creates a Revit® sheet with hardware sets placed on it. The plugin produced well-defined and easily generated output for the client. The team also worked closely with the client to provide support in terms of iterations, revisions and timely delivery of information.
