Round-the-clock check in at Spanish holiday apartments

Challenge

Harpazul is a newly opened holiday apartment complex close to the beaches of Galicia and the historic city of Santiago de Compostela. To secure rooms and common areas — and give peace of mind to their vacationing guests — managers wanted electronic locking which would appeal to the modern luxury traveller.

They sought a trusted provider of access control with a strong record in locking solutions for the hotel sector.

Key Requirements

∙ Stylish electronic locking for the property’s main access points, recreation areas and individual holiday apartments

∙ The ability to offer improved service with seamless, secure 24/7 check-in — and without any need to queue at reception

∙ Wireless locking and energy saving devices, so the structure and its harmonious interior design were not disrupted by cables

Solution

TESA Hotel’s Check-In by PIN solution makes a guest’s arrival and stay stress-free and secure. Booking confirmation and follow-up messages provide each party with a unique PIN they use to enter Harpazul via a Wall Reader; move through secured common areas; and access their own room. “This way we offer a better service to the customer because they don’t have to queue at reception,” says Roi Casal at Harpazul. “It is as easy as sending the PIN via email.”

PIN-operated Spy Escutcheons complement each apartment’s contemporary aesthetics. These stylish door devices are compatible with card and smartphone unlocking, if Harpazul wish to introduce either in future. Rooms have a complementary wall-mounted Energy Saver, which helps Harpazul to minimize wasted energy. It also saves costs — as does secure PIN check-in, because 24-hour reception staffing is not required.

Harpazul’s entire wireless locking system is managed easily and in real time with TESA Hotel software. Every lock can be controlled or monitored remotely. Harpazul’s system administrator automatically receives alerts when a door is opened, a guest turns on privacy mode (DND) or a lock’s battery is low — a rare event, as TESA Hotel wireless locks have a typical battery life of 3 years or at least 75,000 cycles.
