Software used by the client: AutoCAD Revit 3D

ASSA ABLOY Software used: Openings Studio

Size of Specification: 640 doors

Challenge

The main challenge faced was the need to manually review all the floor plans and elevations to meticulously extract the data needed to create a detailed Manual Door schedule. We also had to use Microsoft Excel to carefully process data while avoiding errors. We faced a few communication issues between the specifier and consultant, and the revision process was complicated as new changes and updates had to be tracked manually. There was also a requirement to manually organize Technical Data Sheets and Certificates to send to the consultants.

Solution

We were able to provide solutions for the challenges stated above by using ASSA ABLOY’s proprietary BIM Openings Studio. The complete detailed scheduling process was automated using Openings Studio’s Analyze process. The door schedule details were then easily exported from AutoCAD Revit 3D via the plugin to avoid manual door scheduling. Centralized data and customized reports with images were provided at the consultant’s request. Communicating the requested data with the consultant in Jordan was simplified using the Import and Export options. The technical and product databases were centralized to make them easier to access for all parties concerned. Revisions were monitored using the Highlight Changes option which saves time as opposed to manually tracking each change.
